LASTIVOCHKA: EMBR GEM x URURUR Holiday Collection for Independence Day
A Look at Ukrainian Heritage Through the Lens of Boho Style
On the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, the ethnic clothing brand from Sumy Region EMBR GEM and the art brand from Odessa Region URURUR have joined forces to create a holiday collection of clothing and accessories. The central symbols of the collection are a swallow and a pair of storks in love. Their images adorn embroidered linen shirts and dresses, shawls, collars and scarves, as well as hand-painted charm pendants and charm bracelets.

“In Ukrainian tradition, the swallow is a symbol of hope, prosperity, and rebirth. It was believed that where a swallow settles, there will certainly be happiness. I remember my grandmother saying in my childhood: “The swallow has flown in — it has brought good news on its tail.” Now more than ever, we need good news, so I wanted to embroider this bird on things for the whole family,” says Natalya, creative director of EMBR GEM.
The author of the ornaments that formed the basis of the holiday collection was the artist and founder of the URURUR brand Lesya Stankevych. Birds, flowers and hearts in her performance look modern and at the same time very traditional.
“This is a look at Ukrainian heritage through the prism of the boho style. Jewelry from the EMBR GEM x URURUR collection is modern, but full of symbolism. They can be worn on weekdays, or on holidays. In the first case, style them with a simple T-shirt, in the second — in a pair with an embroidered dress or blouse. And wear the pendant with a swallow and flowers every day on your bag or belt — it will bring good luck,” says Lesya Stankevych.
All jewelry in the collection is made of gingerbread cloth and hand-painted with edible paints. The coating of jewelry resin makes them durable, like ceramics.

The atmospheric film campaign was shot in the Ukrainian forest-steppe by Maria Salivonova.
